The Fine Print
*We evaluate new portfolio submissions every quarter (1st of every February, May, August, and November). Please be patient in hearing back from us.
SFA was designed as a resource for science communicators who need to find professional illustrators. To maintain the reputation of the site, our standard for the quality of work we display is very high. Even if your portfolio is accepted, some of your individual pieces may be rejected. We want to show only your very best work and if you want, we will work with you on developing your portfolio.
If your portfolio is not accepted, please do not be discouraged. An SFA team member will be in touch to give you individualized feedback on your portfolio, and you may re-submit as many times as you like. SFA is dedicated to helping you find the resources you need to improve your portfolio and earn a spot on the site. You can get individualized support and feedback on our platform, Brush Up.
