  Emily Dustman

Emily A. Dustman is an artist + scientist who has been published in various journals for research regarding species of conservation concern. She has collected amphibian species in new geographic ranges last documented in the 1800’s and has improved upon and invented new sexing techniques for turtles. 

For the past decade, Dustman has been teaching science at universities, integrating STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, & Math) into college curriculum while serving as course coordinator. In 2015, she completed a Natural Science Illustration program at Rhode Island School of Design and painted the Turtles of Rhode Island for the state and the Roger Williams Park Zoo. 

Inspired by the art + science fusion, Dustman founded E-Squared Magazine in the spring of 2016, an international quarterly print magazine that sets out to present new and ground-breaking ideas developed by artists, scientists, engineers, and all thinkers alike. In her spare time, you can find her exploring the wilderness and teaching sci-art workshops and scientific illustration classes at botanical gardens.
